FLUID FILM Liquid A
Fluid Film | Automobile | Industry | Agriculture | Maritime shipping | Wind turbines
VISCOSITY: low (eg. like olive oil)
CREEPABILITY: + + + + +
DURATION: min. 2 years (in closed cavities)
PROCESSING: with conventional compressed air systems without heating the material or in the flood method
FLUID FILM Liquid A is a transparent, solvent-free and oily corrosion protection coating with a high lanolin content.
It corresponds to the United States Military Specification – MIL-C-16173
APPLICATIONS
FLUID FILM Liquid A was originally used for flooding ballast water tanks in need of repair on ships, floating docks, offshore units, etc., in which a compromise between effort and protection had to be found.
Thanks to the good experience in shipping, FLUID FILM Liquid A is also used for temporary corrosion protection during the storage and transport of goods. Its strong creeping properties and easy processing also predestine it as a corrosion inhibitor for cavities in motor vehicles or for refreshing old underbody coatings.
ADVANTAGES
In contrast to conventional products, FLUID FILM Liquid A is environmental friendlier and economical to use due to its solvent-free composition.
The basic substance lanolin is non-volatile like oil or kerosene and is not resinous. On the other hand, the effect of solvents usually wears off after 12-15 seconds, that of oil or kerosene ends after a few days, whereby these conventional agents then completely lose the protective effect.
Surface Preparation
In conventional processing using sprayers, brushes or rollers for corrosion protection measures, FLUID FILM Liquid A can be used on dry or damp, bare or rusty surfaces that need to be protected against salt water and any weather conditions.
EFFECT
- solvent-free and physiologically harmless during application and as a protective film
- requires minimal surface treatment
- penetrates rust, displaces water and forms an extremely resistant corrosion protection
- good adhesion to damp or dry surfaces
- no evaporation, resinification or drying out of the protective film
- is not washed off by rain or sea water, but can
- be easily removed if necessary
- can be applied by flooding or any other conventional processing method
- Fast operational readiness of the tank after application

FLUID FILM NAS
Fluid Film | Automobile | Industry | Agriculture | Truck| Maritime shipping | Wind turbines | Winter Service
VISCOSITY: low-medium (eg. like ketchup)
CREEPABILITY: + + +
DURATION: ca. 8 years (in closed cavities)
PROCESSING: with conventional compressed air systems to heat the material to about 25 ° C or with airless systems
FLUID FILM NAS is a physiologically harmless, solvent-free and thixotrophic single-layer corrosion protection coating with sliding and rust-dissolving effect based on lanolin. It forms a clear and shiny protective film.
APPLICATIONS
FLUID FILM NAS is mainly applied as rust protection of metal surfaces during internal interim storage, for preservation during sea and road transport and for cavity sealing of motor vehicles. It can also be used as a lubricant and creeping agent as well as in winter service.
In conventional processing by means of sprayers, brushes or rollers for corrosion protection measures on dry or damp, bare or rusty surfaces, which are to be protected against salt water and weather influences. For cavities on motor vehicles, FLUID FILM NAS can be used by means of a pressure cup gun with a cavity probe (0.2 or 0.4 mm) after heating to approx. 25°C.
THICKNESS
The effectiveness of a rust protection system depends, among other things, on its layer thickness. It has to be selected according to the given stress and the service life of the object.
We recommend double the layer thickness when protecting cavities with many corners, rebates and overlaps and the presence of an old coating or flash rust.
Surface Preparation
FLUID FILM NAS can be used as a rust remover and at the same time as a corrosion inhibitor. For economic reasons, it is recommended to remove loose dirt such as rust and old coating parts by washing them out. The surface may be moist, but must be cleaned of surface water.
EFFECT
- solvent-free and physiologically harmless during application and as a protective film;
- requires minimal surface treatment, penetrates rust, displaces water and forms a highly resistant protection against corrosion by salts
- good adhesion to damp or dry surfaces
- no evaporation, resinification or drying out of the protective film
- can be easily removed if necessary
- may come into contact with water immediately after application
Packaging
- 1 litre plastic bottle
- 1 litre cartridge
- 5 litre plastic canister

FLUID FILM Liquid AR
Fluid Film | Automobile | Industry | Truck | Maritime shipping| Wind turbines| Winter Service
VISCOSITY: medium (eg. like honey)
CREEPABILITY: + +
DURATION: ca. 15 ears (in closed cavities)
PROCESSING: with conventional compressed air systems to heat the material to approximately 45 °C or with airless systems
FLUID FILM Liquid AR is a transparent, solvent-free, physiologically harmless soft single-layer corrosion protection coating based on lanolin.
APPLICATIONS
FLUID FILM Liquid AR is mainly used in ballast water tanks, void cells, coffer dams and similarly stressed areas where due to cost reasons a pure substrate treatment by sandblasting cannot be provided.
It is also particularly suitable as long-term rust protection for cavities or as corrosion protection of steel parts and other metal parts during transport, storage and processing in production.
Surface Preparation
With conventional processing using sprayers, brushes or rollers for corrosion protection measures, FLUID FILM Liquid AR can be used on dry or damp, bare or rusty surfaces that need to be protected against salt water and any weather conditions.
FLUID FILM Liquid AR can be used as a rust remover and at the same time as a corrosion inhibitor. For economic reasons, however, we recommend that loose dirt such as rust and old coating parts are removed by high-pressure washing. Before coating, the sludge from the bottom of the tank should also be removed. The surface may be moist, but must be free from surface water.
THICKNESS
The effectiveness of a protection system depends, among other things, on its layer thickness. It is to be selected according to the given stress and the service life of the object. We recommend a target layer thickness of over 500 μm for ballast water tanks, as a large part of the coating saturates the existing rust with the porous and rough nature of an old tank.
EFFECT
- solvent-free and physiologically harmless during processing, greater safety in operation
- economical to use and uncomplicated handling. In one operation step, between 200 – 800 μm can be applied (by airless spraying).
- can be sprayed with standard airless devices (compressing over 22:1). Application is possible by means of brushes, rollers or compressed air spraying
- simplified handling when spraying with lances, which in the majority of cases make the installation of a scaffold superfluous.
- 1-component – product with excellent adhesion even on damp surfaces and old coatings.
- penetrates excellently thick layers of rust – blasting work can be dispensed with.
- If FLUID FILM Liquid AR has been used as a rust remover, regular repair work or renewal coatings can only be carried out immediately with FLUID FILM products after removal of all loose soiling.

DURATION: ca. 20 years (in closed cavities)
PROCESSING: Airless systems or brush / roller
FLUID FILM Gel B is a highly viscous, soft, physiologically harmless and solvent-free single-layer corrosion protection coating with very high lanolin content. FLUID FILM Gel B is available in transparent form as FLUID FILM Gel BN, or mixed with white color pigments as FLUID FILM Gel BW.
APPLICATIONS
FLUID FILM Gel B is mainly intended for ships, docks, offshore units, sheet piling and similar objects. In ballast water tanks, void cells, coffer dams and similarly stressed areas in which, for cost-related reasons, substrate preparation by means of sandblasting cannot be provided and long-lasting corrosion protection comparable to epoxy coatings is expected.
Further fields of application are the rust protection of accessible places on motor vehicles and the securing of screw connections. It has also proven itself as corrosion protection of steel parts and other metal parts during transport, storage and processing in manufacturing operations.
Application temperature
The application temperature is between -10 °C (263 K) and 40 °C (313 K). In order to easily achieve the required spray pressure at the nozzle at low temperatures, we recommend preheating the material to approx. 25°C (298 K) with industrial heaters or hot air blowers. It is not necessary to observe the dew point during processing as long as no condensation is detected.
EFFECT
- solvent-free, therefore considerably less environmental impact during application, greater safety in operation
- economical to use and uncomplicated in handling. In one step a layer thickness of up to 1,000 μm can be applied in a single operation (by airless spraying)
- Cost-effective processing method when spraying with lances, which in the majority of cases make the installation of a scaffolding superfluous
- 1-component product with excellent adhesion even on intact old paints
- Renewal coatings can be applied immediately with FLUID FILM products after removal of any loose dirt
- highest resistance to aqueous media
- temperature stable from -45°C (248 K) to approx. 70°C (343 K)
- in case of injuries of the coating, FLUID FILM Gel B shows a limited self-healing effect. After entering the tanks, no follow-up application is required
Packaging

FLUID FILM WRN-EP
Fluid Film | Maritime shipping
VISCOSITY: very high (eg. like Butter)
CREEPABILITY: +
DURATION: ca. 30 years (in closed cavities)
PROCESSING: Wire rope lubricator or brush / roller / wool glove
FLUID FILM WRN-EP – Manufactured on a wool grease-based, solvent-free preservative provides high-quality corrosion protection that can withstand difficult climatic and mechanical conditions. It contains anti-aging agents, antioxidants, inhibitors, wetting agents and additives to increase lubricating compressive strength.
APPLICATIONS
FLUID FILM WRN-EP is a wire rope grease and is therefore preferably used in shipping (loading harness, RoRo systems, lifeboats), in crane systems (construction cranes, port facilities), cable cars, elevators, ski lifts but also in washing systems for railway wagons. In addition, thanks to its excellent lubricating properties, it can be used on open gearboxes, for cables, bolts and screw connections.
Due to the very high viscosity, this product can only be used to a limited extent as a top coat, but as a strong film-forming material, it is ideally suited as a top coat for sealing and enveloping the rope spandrels and individual wires. We recommend FLUID FILM Liquid A or WRL as a base coat.
Surface Preparation
In case of new wire ropes, the surface should be largely freed from the stranding agent before FLUID FILM WRN-EP is applied. The stranding agent need not be removed from the spandrels between the individual wires.
If well-adhering old coatings are to be retained on used ropes, they must be examined for their functionality; these include, in particular, the adhesion as well as the degree of underrusting and infiltration by water. Before applying the top coat, foreign layers (impurities) must be removed. Damaged areas must be mechanically derusted, at least to the standard purity grade St 1 according to SIS (loose rust), and applied with a base coat. Poorly adhering parts of old coatings should be removed by brushing or with the help of the MASTO wire rope lubrication device.
Apply with hard brushes, rags, sheep’s wool gloves or leather cones. For long-term protection, a target layer thickness of the top coat of at least 800 μm is required. However, the material can be applied up to 3 mm, whereby it still has a high mechanical strength and a high adhesion. The most effective way to inject it is with the MASTO wire rope lubrication device.
EFFECT
- highly thixotropic corrosion protection gel based on lanolin
- without solvents
- base and top coat without drip effect up to + 96° C
- can be used at temperatures from – 45°C to + 96°C, under extreme pressure conditions.
- forms a grey, transparent, viscous coating
- non-resinous
- excellent lubricating properties
Packaging
- 20 litre pail
